A friend has recently adopted an FIV cat and was wondering what insurance would cover, she doesn't want to take it out and then the insurance company then say "no its related to fiv" or try to link everything to it

Re: Insuring an FIV + cat

More importantly it's having a vet who understands the virus and doesn't blame every bout of ill health on the fact that its FIV related, which obviously then puts the insurance company on high alert. My kitty has had FIV since I rehomed him at 8 weeks of age. He is now 8 yrs old and looking fabulous! He's insured with AXA on lifetime cover, who have been fantastic so far & always paid out & on time, but then I've had fantastic vets treating him too! As said above get your friend to enquire with several insurers, I'd suggest also putting money aside every month and also find an understanding/knowledgable vet. Well done to your friend for rehoming an FIV+ kitty...they are truly deserving x

Re: Insuring an FIV + cat

Prob best to ring one or two of them and enquire that way
