Genuine police will not mind if you contact the local police to check up on them. Even with a warrant you are legally entitled to check up on who they are via the police control and they will not object to this.

In this day and age we can not take chances nor should we it is our health on the line.If someone starts to object l would be very suspicious and my hand would be hitting 999 faster than an escaping f**t

Re: **POLICE WARNING**
I am the same over id as all we see is the tv ones. I asked one of the police l deal with if l could see his card so l had an idea. It was like a credit card but he warned me it varies by force. So it is worth asking one of your locals if you can have a look so you have an idea what to look for.
That's why I worry as even if I saw a real one there may be different variations of them so still wouldn't really have a clue. I guess it would be our right not to let an officer in (unless they have a warrant!?!!!!) explaining why and then contacting our local police station to double check? Would that work? If they were an actual officer then surely they'd understand our worries and be supportive about it??

I do not think the police left it out Wobblebob. It was taken by the disposal company and was their responsability. Chances are their security was fooled by someone posing as whatever who hooked up the trailer and drove off.

Re: **POLICE WARNING**

oh dear silly police, why leave them out for thieves!!!

Re: **POLICE WARNING**

Exactly - you can buy fake id way more easily than uniforms!

Re: **POLICE WARNING**

Thanks for posting this.

It was said tongue in cheek about my village though!

What I'm wondering is how on earth did they know where to find them? Did someone in the police stores dept or at the waste disposal centre tip them off or do these people just hang around and wait to see what exciting stuff they can use turns up? Oh, and just happened to have a tow bar and it was conveniently left in an unattended trailer for them to tow away?

Re: **POLICE WARNING**

That, is not the polices view Dippy nor should it be any one else's. The uniforms are worth a fortune and the robberies linked to are nationwide. It does not need sophistication it just needs the greed and that is not a problem for the average scroat.

The fact that they found 100 in Salford is immaterial when several tons were stolen there is a whole country out there. I have no doubt that the anti terrorist police are worried stupid about who is going to get hands on these uniforms.

Re: **POLICE WARNING**

Hi Loobylou

The warehouse they were stolen from was in Hadfield, the village where I live, in fact 5mins walk from my house! I'd be more worried if you lived near Salford though as that's where they turned up! Probably some Manchester based gang as I don't think they're sophisticated enough to think up clever scams around here

Re: **POLICE WARNING**

Oh my god, Im only 15 mins away form Glossop!
