Hi,

This is not helpful to your comment, but I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I am almost qualified and am thinking of undertaking the SQP once I have. After starting it, do you think it is worthwhile? Also, is it then only products like Stronghold we can prescribe or are there other medications too?

Many thanks in advance,

Sara :)

Hi

I personally think it is useful to have this qualification. It will enable you to Prescribe & dispense POM-VPS, NFA-VPS drugs so NOT strongold but things like Advantage, Drontal, Frontline, Effipro and others

The CPD is a bit of a joke but it is getting easier. In total you need 30 points over 2 years, AMTRA will now allow 15 points of those to be from RVN CPD if relevant and the other 15 points you can get from the lectures they are accrediting at BVNA and by doing online training.

I hope this helps

Re: SQP Small companion animal module

l let it lapse a total waste of time l locum no practice l went to knew what it was.

To keep it you have to do think 30 points a yr 5 comes from the online rubbish (check out over the counter magazine the cpd for companion animal is in there) just copy the answers into the box ... really hard test!

And do a cpd with the sqp people. WHAT A JOKE sign in and out at end of day or you loose the points they know people will walk out. I had to do the horse cpd even though l didn't have the horse cpd but if l left l wouldn't have got the one l needed. They have a couple of each section a yr and you have to travel miles l went to scots corner from wigan others from london and all over the country. The cpd you need is really what you would say to owners or even lower level it is so basic.

Really just flea treatments and wormers

Wouldnt wast my money and do it again.

Re: SQP Small companion animal module

Hi,

Yes remember the regs and licence but there isnt an awful lot to learn on them, code not sure about but just remember salient points. We were allowed our noah book things they sent out with us... well they lent them to us for the exam check if they still do that.
