I'm planning to head to oz soon too! I've been offered a position in a hospital in Perth at £30 an hour when I go.

Hi I am in Oz atm going to be working at a very well known specialist hospital in sydney I am 7 yrs qualified with lots of emergency critical care experience . . .I have been offered a casual contract and am slightly put off as I guess the hours aren't guaranteed etc but the rate is about $29 an hour . . Not sure whether to look elsewhere etc . . Be grateful.for any advice

I worked as (and trained as) a nurse over in Melbourne, oz, 4yrs in total. In my permanent qualified position I was earning were $20 per hour, which is minimum for the industry. So as a locum u might be looking $25 maybe? Altho I know transferring money too and from oz to uk is expensive so bear that in mind too... And altho they are trying to raise standards, nurses do not do as much over there as they do here. Good luck tho... It is great fun over there!
