A client called the practice last Saturday needing tick

Re: ticks

I've never had much luck using Frontline to prevent my dogs getting ticks. But in practice we have leaflets produced by Bayer regarding parasite control for the PETS scheme that sets out a schedule for when the treatments need to be administered. We hand out these to clients and it does use Advantix. The leaflets only contain Bayer's own products though!

Re: ticks

Thank you for the reply - I am really struggling to find any definite published evidence/ official warnings on this

Re: ticks

This might not be helpful in anyway whatsoever but I live in the far north of scotland (tick paradise it would seem) and our own dogs (springers) are always covered in ticks unless dosed monthly with advantix or wearing a seresto collar. We have tried fipronil at various points but have not found it particularly effective (to give an example I pulled 4 very much alive and kicking ticks from Otis when I had re-applied a well known fipronil based product 1 week earlier). This may explain why it is not the preferred option for a country but I have not heard anything for definate.

Would be interested to hear if this is the case tho.
