My clinical waste bin looked nothing like a clinical waste bin :P Examiners where nice on my osce's. If you explain yourself for everything, it may back you up if the examiner misses seeing you do something. It also stops you rushing through steps and possibly missing something important with nerves.

If you finish early and they ask have you finished with the task, think carefully it may be as small as forgetting to write units in full.

Check again and again and again!! mistakes can be easily done under pressure.

All very helpful answers guys but can't help thinking it sounds wasteful. If its in a sealed container can you not just put the whole thing in hazardous waste? Obviously we have to tick the right boxes to pass this thing so ill have to try and do what the rcvs want but still! Very frustrating after having passed my exams once 4 years ago to now have to do them again and "tick boxes". And it's expensive on a nurse assisstant wage! Grrrr... I did my practical exams in July, I didn't get the urinary catheter task but if I did then I would have placed an inco sheet or lots of tissue into the clinical waste bin and pour the urine in. Re capping the needle safely would be placing the needle cap into a wooden block or plasticine and re sheathing.
Hope this helps?
Just don't panick!!!!

How do you research a needle "using safe technique"? Is that have the cap on the table and insert the needle while you're not holding the cap?!
