I have recently taken on the role of RCO for the Notts/Lincs area, and seem to spend a lot of time liasing between speaker/venue/sponsor without actually getting anywhere - it is a frustrating task!

I am the Welshpool RCO. I took the job in June, due to a poor BVNA representation! I understand some of your frustrations as my region ha suffered from a serious lack of CPD for many years. I hope I am doing the region justice now. I was always under the impression other regions did a lot. I know Steph does as I have previously been to quite a few of her meetings! As Steph says being an RCO is a demanding job trying to keep everybody happy, that includes the reps who will often require a certain amount of attendants is quite difficult. I would always welcome ideas for CPD, my ideas may be appealing to me but not everyone else!

The reason the CPD's have been rearranged can be varied but generally it is usually due to low numbers signing up. I am the regional Co-ordinator for Manchester/Merseyside and Cheshire and it can be very frustrating when we only get a handful of attendees signing up. We have to be able to cover all our costs and occasionally if we manage to get sponsorship (harder than you think) the sponsors sometimes request that there is a certain number of attendees.

The role of RCO can be tough when you are trying to please everyone (it's never going to happen) especially when you are working a busy full time job as well.

Please bear with your RCO and if you have any suggestions for CPD you want then get in touch with her (either via email or on your regions facebook page), as it can be very difficult thinking of fresh new topics as well.
