No it's not that bad at all really. Obviously shop around yourself and see if anyone can recommended you an accountant :) Recommendations are great as you know they have been tried and tested already! They did try and get me to go down the limited company route however this is more expensive and a bit more in-depth, and as it is my first time locuming I wanted to keep it simple!

I have been recommended an accountant who is setting me up as self-employed and will be doing all my tax etc for me.

Hello - I am starting a locum career in September for the first time, and I have had advice from a friend who locumed for a good few years - she said I should try and look for my own placements, as practices would prefer not to be charged by the locum agency if possible. I took her advice and I have found myself a placement by just emailing all the local practices introducing myself etc.

I locumed for over 5 years all around the country and although i registered with a few, i have to say that Ann at A1 locums were by far the best - they will look at where and what you want and negotiate prices etc - extremely helpful and i highly recommend them.

Good luck with locuming - it's good experience and can be a lot of fun

Ive been locuming for a year now and i registered with a few different agencies from the start. I stll get emails from them all but found Synergy to be fab, they have always found me work so not needed to use any other agency.

I am in the midlands/North west area and never struggled to find work, if anything there is too much work and no where near enough nurses locuming to cover it.

I am registered with a few even though i have a full time job I must say A1 Locums are always sending emails out for places that need emergancy cover. they will fight for a good wage for you. I have done a couple of shifts withs Vets Now through them and they sorted me a good pay and they are country wide so if your wanting to travel a bit then i would recomvend them i get an email every day from them with places they need covering.
