Sadly, so long as judges reward unnatural and cruel practices, they will continue. Less extreme but still unacceptable practices prevail in many equestrian disciplines e.g grossly overweight show horses are still placed high up in the showing world and 'overbent' horses are too frequently rewarded in the dressage arena. Judges need to take a long hard look at the precious traditions which seem to rule their judgement and start rewarding skilled horsemanship which is guided by the natural beauty of the horse. It's not just the judges at fault, the owners and trainers of these animals are ultimately responsible for their animal's welfare. There is an unhealthy obsession with results and ribbons these days.

One of the main evil men has now been prosecuted + banned from keeping horses but the fight still goes on to stop the other Ba*****ds.

Re: Horse Cruelty

Selina a lot of cruelty goes on in the top class show jumpers and dressage horses, they have apparently toned it down but for some reason l am cynical about that.

When l rode back home my teacher would say if you can not control a horse without a load of leather and metal work... you shouldn't be riding it. New people joining the class were made to take any extra leather work or metal work off and learn properly. I still snarl it when l see people riding with all the c**p they do.

Re: Horse Cruelty

Just googles it on you tube.. :( :(

Re: Horse Cruelty

That is grim, should shove the owner fetes in something painful too... See how they like it.

I do cringe when I see show jumping and dressage when they have their nose just about on their chest it looks uncomfortable and abnormal, they have little free movement.
