You had to pay to do it???

I did my A units back in 2006 and had been assessing portfolios since. A units were more involved and for that I had to write a portfolio outlining my assessing. For the clinical coach I literally had a couple of hours at CAW and that was it! To be honest the NPL is nowhere near the same standard as the portfolio hence the training to be a clinical coach is limited.

If your practice has just become a TP then they may want to do a bit more with you but really, it all sounds unnecessary to me!

That does seem a bit odd! I had never properly seen the NPL before I did the training!

We never even got near an NPL.... Doesn't bode well if there is no standard behind the training, I did My D units for the portfolio training but seems silly that I have to do clinical coach training when there seems to be no standard behind it.

Same as above, I did the course through CAW (my practice uses a different college so we had to pay £75), it was a day course - mainly spent discussing what the changes to the qualification were and use of NPL/assessment - no diaries etc required!

If I had waited and done the training through the college my practice uses, it would have been free - your course seems pretty intense, and if it was mandatory to undertake, I think it would put a lot of people off being a CC!

When i did my clinical coach training i just had to do a one day course, which consisted of a morning of learning about different learning styles then an afternoon of playing around with a test version of the NPL. Nothing too taxing and certainly no diary or assignment
