Any tips on how not to take your work home with you?
I've taken to only allowing myself an hour a night/day out of work to do work related stuff. I make a list the night before on the tasks I need to complete the following day and then if I need to, use that hour to complete the tasks and do a plan for the following day.

[/quote]

I make lists too, its important to make time to plan! I split my lists into phone calls, emails, errands and meetings - that way I can sit down the next day and blast through things in groups. I'm the list queen, I know its sad, it just means I make the most of the time I have. I used to lie awake at night thinking of all the stuff I've got to do the following day - so now I keep a pen and paper by my bed so I can put it on paper, get it out of my head and relax!

It gave me something to look forward to and distract me from work and any related issues, it also helps you keep in touch with friends who you might not normally get to catch up with so easily!

Exercise is also a great way to de-stress, I always feel much less frustrated after a good run :)

Re: Switching off at the end of the day!

I stand in the kitchen with hubby .Get everything off my chest then don't mention any work once we go into the lounge.Works for me and at least he knows we can relax once sitting down and no more talk of work.

Re: Switching off at the end of the day!

I've taken to only allowing myself an hour a night/day out of work to do work related stuff. I make a list the night before on the tasks I need to complete the following day and then if I need to, use that hour to complete the tasks and do a plan for the following day.

Doesn't always work, but the majority of the time I am going to bed without going crazy. I've seen a huge difference in my sanity by doing this as well as starting to sleep properly.
