Hope you wonderful nursies can help me once again!!
I was watching a colleague dispensing some wormers (Milbemax) to a client who has 3 animals, she put all 3 labels on one envelope. Does any one know if this is actually legal?? Or should

Re: Dispensing

I do this.

I think so long as the animals names are on the packet with the dose that they need and the client is told that is what you have done then it is fine. If they were different strengths it would be different eg if using drontal and one pet had the XL tablet as although this is huge and should be obvious it is a different strength and could be given to the wrong pet but if all the same, then save some trees!

Otherwise the owner walks out with loads of envelopes and nurses can also get confused!

Re: Dispensing

I do the same - so long as its the same medication, all the tablets are the same strength and the appropriate dose for each animal being treated is clearly on the envelope, so yes I would attach as many labels as there are animals being treated making sure all can be clearly read. Why is there a problem with this?

Re: Dispensing

I do this often with medications of the same type for different animals in the household.
