Does anyone work where clients can order repeat prescriptions online from their website?
I've seen a few practices have started to do it and it seems a good idea to me. I was just wondering what the pros and cons are and how well it works

Re: Online repeat prescriptions

seeing as Amazon is supplying DIY microchips it doesnt really surprise me.

Client declined saying she can get it online, vet checked through records and we have never issued a prescription for the meds. She is getting advocate from amazon with no prescription from us or any other vet. Vmd don't seem interested and are aware. W have had a few clients with other meds not flea stuff get it nine with no presc.

Re: Online repeat prescriptions

It should do that - the bit you'll have to beef up: make sure the website states this service is for registered clients only and subject to the animal having been seen by a vet within the last 3mo/6mo/1yr/whenever you do repeat prescription checks.

(This sounds obvious, but you'll still get the occasional random person who wants a repeat of his meds even though you've never seen him or his pet in your life!)

Re: Online repeat prescriptions

Thanks, I'm just thinking it will reduce phone calls at busy times, well hopefully anyway

Re: Online repeat prescriptions

Generally speaking what most frequently happens is that the website form sends an email to a designated email, and then a vet or a nurse checks it to make sure they've been seen recently or within whatever interval is required. vet signs off meds as normal.

Advantage: More convenient for owner. Disadvantage: they don't come in as often. Advantage: only come in once, not twice - good if you have parking issues.
