Look out for free webinars, tap the reps for free CPD, look out for free CPD online - it is very possible to complete a good amount of CPD without spending the earth - I know because thats how I do most of mine and if I am doing something that costs me I make sure it is actually relevant to what I am doing. In some ways I feel the CPD requirement is a bit daft as it is now when you get people attending just to tick a box rather than to actually learn anything.

Re: CPD Questions

If you attend anything that is an organized event and gives you a certificate, this is documented - you've got a paper (or PDF) to prove it, and your name will be on a list of attendees. Undocumented means basically writing down that you read something and you're saying you learned from it. It's useful but obviously as open to abuse, there's a cap of 5 hours annually (10 for vets) that you can count as undocumented CPD. You probably spend 5 hours over the year reading all the journals that come through the post so that's not a stretch of the imagination.

If you are doing specific research for a job or topic, you can actually document that - basically as long as you list how long it took and what you did, and how long it took, this can be considered documented CPD. Examples include research for a presentation to your colleagues or a school talk, for instance.

Generally speaking as long as you don't take the mick, your CPD records are most likely fine. If it's some subject with a clear veterinary application it's obviously relevant to you.

http://www.rcvs.org.uk/education/cpd-for-vns/ is the RCVS guidelines, it's quite helpful!

Kind regards,

edit: fixed the middle sentence, it was confusing

Re: CPD Questions

If you do training at work like reps meetings or do online stuff this is still documented. Undocumented means reading journals etc.
