Got my first attempt at practicals this coming Saturday and I'm completely stressing out. Glandular fever isn't helping either.
Worried about one of the theatre units. Does anyone know/remember how in depth the knowledge of instruments needs

Re: Practicals panic!

Thanks for the advice.
you have to be calm and try not to let your nerves leak out apparently confident showmanship is half the battle. We have lecturers who are also examiners and they say that if you are oozing confidence then they are less likely to be watching as closely than if you are fumbling over everything!

[/quote]

easiest way to do this is to swing it around. Pretend that your examiners are students or new starts in your practice and that your boss has asked you to train them in specific tasks.

I have just done my practicals on the 7/07/13 and although it was one of the most stressful situations I have ever been it is actually ok. As long as you sit there and learn them parrot fashion you will be able to recite them. I learnt my stations by not just doing them but learning the steps off by heart so I could always pick it up if I got too nervous. But you have to be calm and try not to let your nerves leak out apparently confident showmanship is half the battle. We have lecturers who are also examiners and they say that if you are oozing confidence then they are less likely to be watching as closely than if you are fumbling over everything!

When it comes to the instruments remember you only need eight out of twelve and there is a really good book on Amazon that has all the pictures for your future reference.

And of course good luck, breathe and knock em dead :)

Re: Practicals panic!

Hope it went well! :)

Re: Practicals panic!

Good luck :)

Re: Practicals panic!

I think they've all been metioned above but wanted to say good luck!

Re: Practicals panic!

Hi firstly good luck, i have mine on friday!!
