For the Euthanasia assignment I did a case study on a real situation I was involved in. I also included photocopies of all the dog's documents (hospitalisation sheets etc.) I used all the assignment brief titles as titles within the case study (I did this will all my assignments) so I made sure I covered all that was needed. The assignment brief is this:

To complete task Ii the assessor/mentor should complete the following form considering the learners performance in relation to the work duties specified in the contract of employment over a period of 3 months. The assessor/mentor feedback should identify learner strengths and areas for improvement and be in line with the marking criteria.

This task may be achieved at Pass, Merit or Distinction

and the marking criteria state

The learner produced a basic diary sheet for at least 10 days work experience and recorded some summary learning points.

The assessor/mentor completed the work experience provider’s report with all 8 criteria assessed at Pass level.

Pass criteria were met plus: The learner produced a diary sheet for each day of work experience, including some reflection on learning and personal performance and some personal targets for further development. The assessor/mentor completed the work experience provider’s report with all criteria assessed at Pass level and at least 6 as Merit.

Merit criteria were met plus: The learner produced a detailed diary sheet for each day of work experience, which included a perceptive reflection on learning and personal performance; suitable personal targets for further development were identified. The assessor/mentor completed the work experience provider’s report with all criteria assessed as Merit level and at least 4 as Distinction.

Yeah having to do the talk on contracts was silly. I'll be glad when I finish this course lol. Just wondering anyone that did the euthanasia case study, I assume you had to do it on an actual euthanasia? How did you guys go about doing it?

We've not had to do a diary either? Some of the items in the course really don't seem very relevant, I.e the section on applying for a job, and contract legislation.

Hi Elerrina,

I've just completed my VCA course and I didn't need to submit a diary for this task. As others have said, some of the marking criteria is not very clear!

Not sure that really helps if you're having to do one anyway but writing about daily experiences and how you've improved skills based on problems you've encountered should cover it!

Sorry Elerrina, I know what you mean now!

Yes we were given a diary log book at the beginning of the year, i've actually completed about 50 days worth, just a bit of info on tasks, what you learnt, how you can improve, that kind of thing.

Well, not every accident is reportable. Depends on what happened to who, where, and when. http://www.hse.gov.uk/riddor/what-must-i-report.htm is a good link with some information.

Yeah well I didn't even check it as i assumed it was a practical due to it saying (submitted by mentor) Didn't realise until my mentor went to do it that i had to do a diary -.-.

Some of the briefs are rather vague and im completely baffled by the riddor poster as two points seem to be exactly the same

To complete task Giii the learner is required to produce a poster to explain when an accident report must be sent to hse The following information should be included:

relevant legislation
types of accidents
reportable accidents
when an accident or injury should be reported to HSE
time scales for reporting accidents
any other relevant detail.

Whats the difference between types of accidents and reportable accident :S

This is where we are finding things difiicult with this course and number of things haven't added up properly or have contradicted them selves, and what with the added bonus of extremely slow marking! We haven't done 203li yet.

The assignment is called work effectively and it's only when you look at the pass criteria that it says you have to do a diary it's not even in the actual brief

Hi there, I'm also coming to the end of the VCA, and for this assessment we've not had to do a diary, we had a small assignment to do on employment contracts (basically explaining what they are) and we're having assessed group discussions about employment contracts next week, in groups of 4. Thats our version of 203 Li..

I hope someone else can help you though, sorry I can't be more help!
