Only one agency got back to me, one just went to voicemail, the other two that I tried took all of my details but nothing. Not even a sorry, we tried but there is no one available.

Re: Which agency - locum vet needed

A1 locums are amazing, i locumed and used used them for 5 years and they never let me down - am very pleased they helped you out and your all sorted now

Re: Which agency - locum vet needed

Thank you, especially to those of you have contacted me. Not surprising a good forecast bh weekend = no help. I have to say all the local vets around me were very sympathetic and understanding and concerned at what we were going to do, but no one could help. I have managed to get cover for tomorrow but then ..... I figure I will be spending tomorrow on the phone too. I can't believe I am spending b.hol emailing all of the agencies I didn't try on Friday. Where did they all come from there are loads of them now !!!
I am sure one of our local practices will be be to source some help, even if just for consulting and we have to postpone the ops but it's not ideal.
I'll keep trying....we have had some bad experiences with some of the agencies in the past, but I guess they all change, hence the plea for who to try...oh, our ooh service I have contacted them too, fingers crossed.

Re: Which agency - locum vet needed

Try all of them., then try them again and again so they can't ignore you.

I would also try local practice as sometimes they have part time staff who want more hours and in your situation may be happy to help you. If you have any OOH services by you then the vet who is "off" might want the odd day but they generally don't go looking for work through agencies and more word of mouth.

I think in an emergency most vets would put themselves in your position and try to help as much as they could - you never know, you may be able to return the favour in future.

Good luck
