I spoke to somebody at Dunlops this afternoon and apparently this is the only way they will now be available Good idea? - I dont think so.
Cheeky really making you have no option but to have the silly sharps boxes to try and force you onto using them, but I do believe they said they would only be unavailable (the normal boxes) for a short while...so now just have to wait I guess!

Re: caninsulin syringes

Hi,

I spoke to MSD and they said that the normal boxes are coming back. We take the syringes out of the supplied sharps container and just sell them in a dispensing bag, this way we can throw the plastic box away, this helps reduce the storage space required. We also had a letter to state that they should be back.

Re: caninsulin syringes

[quote user="Maria84"]We had a letter from MSD Animal Health saying that they have not got the proper licence to use them as sharps bins, and that the old "normal" boxes will be back soon.
Yes, this is quite funny when you think about it. The "bins" they provide are not licensed for incineration. There was also a thread on SPVS about it apparently as we have something up in the practice about it - what a waste of money and time. I wouldn;t like to be the person who was supposed to research if the box would be legal for its intended use!

I do think owners of animals with longterm illness sometimes get quite a rough deal and I have to say that in many cases that is down to manufacturers and suppliers

Re: caninsulin syringes

We usually supply the owner with a sharps bin (they pay for it) that they then return to us for disposal.
