I agree it's a tricky one. I don't think they made us out to be all dumping pets in the landfill. On the other hand, I did think the pet crematoria spokesperson made one correct point, actually - we should be clear with the crematorium what happens to the ashes.

It may be possible that many vets don't actually know what happens to the pets after cremation; and it would be a good idea to get familiar with the disposal process. If you think it would be deeply upsetting to your clientele, why not bring this up with the crematorium and see if there could be an alternate solution?

That doesn't necessarily mean prices go up; if you have a good business relationship with the crematorium, a question doesn't cost anything. "What do you do with the bodies after the cremation?" and "How can we work together to make sure that this is handled sensitively?" are good questions to ask - how many vets and nurses ask them?

Communication is key here.

We take so much care in how we treat the animals and where we send them for cremation and they're making us out to be evil people who chuck the animals in a landfill. If you're not going to have the ashes back what do you expect will be done with them really :S

Re: BBC on cremation

Thanks Sal sorry was short bit l wrote l was on phone internet so getting url etc was to much to manage.

Re: BBC on cremation

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01sdnqk/You_and_Yours_Highspeed_rail_noise_childrens_books_veg_boxes/

Re: BBC on cremation

Do you have a link?
