My practice is, again, looking for another QVN to join the nursing team. We are a Tier 3 SA hospital so have nurses on call on site 24 hours a day. What sort of things/offers/pay rates etc would make a job enticing to you and then help you

Re: What do YOU want?

talking from experience recruiting for tier 3's is tricky. Due to the on-site on-call the amount of time off in-lieu is going to be critical - be generous to allow for the very unsocialable hours! When I was having to re-think the rota I went with a 4pm -8pm shift and then the on-call, with the following day being a 8am-12pm shift. The nurses were not expected to stay up all night - generally doing last rounds about 11ish. This seemed to please everybody and the nurses never minded doing an extra night shift- and even used to volunteer themselves as this shift was very popular!
