I have very kindly agreed to let the local brownie's & girl guides come to the surgery for a visit to help them achieve one of their badges. The leader has suggested making up a game for the girls to do whilst they are at the surgery.
This is for a group that would divide into groups of twos or threes

I made a card game and used it for years afterwards - you need cards representing 3 animals or 2 animals if it is a small group and then for each animal you have at least 3 cards 1 representing a foodstuff, 1 representing bedding or housing and 1 representing something that the animal would need ie for a dog you might have dog food, a basket and a lead

Pick 3 people and give them a card each ie one is a cat one is a dog and one is a rabbit (or whatever animals you choose)

the 'animals' all stand in the middle of the room and the rest of the cards are given one each to the rest of the participants who sit down and dont reveal their cards

The aim is for the animals to pick the people who represent what they need so taking it in turns they pick one person - that person then stands up and reveals their card, if the person represents what the animal needs that person joins the 'animal in the middle of the room , if they dont they sit down again. The winning team is the one that has the animal and all it needs standing in the middle, but continue it until everybody is standing. You can make it as easy or hard as you like, and you can include as many animals and needs as you want in your deck of cards so long as each team is the same number its good if you can award some sort of 'prize' to each participant. At the end if you have any time left you can always ask each group to tell you a liitle bit about their animal

Beware - the younger the age group the more exciteable they become so I hope you have a good sized waiting room.

Hope that makes sense

[/quote]

Or pictures of dog breeds to put in size order from smallest to largest?

Or, just thought of another one, get them to guess what some of the equipment/instruments are for - you could have "easy" ones like stethoscope and thermometer, auroscope, etc, then find some more difficult ones (refractometer, tick remover, instruments such as alligator forceps, towel clips, etc) - they might learn something new!
