Thanks all for your responses, it is really helpful to get feedback. We do most the things you have already mentioned but things like a wall thermometer in dispensing will be taken on board.

Make sure no ood drugs out they do tend to slip through esp at the back of cupboards and his eyes are like bloody magnets on them

Hi we just had one too.

Nice guy so dont be too worried but points to look at inparticular seemed to be

- fridge temps record min and max as well as current.

-broach dates on all meds

-controlled drugs book in order and disposing correctly

-suggested wall thermometer in pharamacy

-labels on disp drugs should be initialled by vet

-consent forms for unlicenced drugs mentioning inline with cascade

-precription forms must say valid for 6mths from date of issue and cascade etc.

Hi we had one recently and all of the above were important but he was particularly hot on:

>Fridge temperature recording (a usb dongle that gets plugged into computer once a month isnt good enough, you need to have a min and max thermometer that gets checked daily)

>Prescriptions were being double checked by a qualified person and signed for in prescription book

>Consent forms for off label medicines, (seperate exotic one)

We were very worried about it at the time but actually passed it with no major issues. Good Luck with yours

Have a look here at your regulations and check if your practice is following them.

Obvious ones are:

keeping your delivery orders and writing down all the batch numbers

schedules stock checks and batch number checks

temperature monitoring in dispensary, fridges and anywhere that drugs are kept

Injectables labelled when broached and obviously in date

records and consent forms for any drugs used off licence (signed by owner of course)

that you are following the dispensing cascade

DD drugs recorded and an internal audit to check all correct

key to DD cupboard not left in door

I wrote more than I thought. Hope this is a start but I expect there's more.
