Are they exactly the same as the RCVS ones. I have also heard rumours you get an idea of what type of subject matter before the exam. Is this true? For example 3 questions on the heart and 6 on the digestive system for example

Re: City and Guilds paper 2 versus RCVS paper 2

Vicky, we have explained the sitiation to you. You were registered before the course option with unitised exams was available. We as a college are not setting a fee of £200 to transfer you - this is how much it will cost us with City and giulds. Please contact me if you need further clarification

Re: City and Guilds paper 2 versus RCVS paper 2

Your college will have chosen whether to put their students onto either the synopic route (old method of paper 1 and paper 2) or unitised (each unit tested individually). If they have already placed you onto one route during enrolment it would cost £200 to change you onto the alternative route. When you have been placed onto one route it applies to the rest of your time on the course; so year two would be paper 3 or each unit individually.

Re: City and Guilds paper 2 versus RCVS paper 2

Iv,e just had a look on City and Guild site at sample papers, bit of a jumble really. I found it just the same as the RCVS paper, but sadly that includes some questions which you really need to read carefully before answering. Often they're written as double negatives or written opinion based, such as "which is most" or "which is least" which can make you over think the question. I suggest just taking your time, don't rush the questions, you have one minute per question, which is actually a long time. It's always best to read the question several times to make sure you understand what it is asking you. Good luck with your retake!

Re: City and Guilds paper 2 versus RCVS paper 2

We got told at our college it was over £200 if we wanted to do the single exams to change over :(

Re: City and Guilds paper 2 versus RCVS paper 2

I would question the teaching methods then if that's the case. I went to a clinical coach meeting the other week and we were told they were unitising the exams, they explained it as when the students have finished a unit - say A&P then there would be an exam on only that part, it is meant to make it less stressful for the students - well that's the plan I think

Re: City and Guilds paper 2 versus RCVS paper 2

Oh and what do you mean by unitised?
