Help!

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this. I have been given the essay question and told that during my interview i will be given 30 mins to write my answer with no support from my notes.

Thank you so much that has all really helped! I think I'm most nervous about the maths exam, I think I'll dig out some books & do some revision!
I'm just waiting to receive the letter to confirm the interview session and exam question & I can start preparing!
Well I'm really hoping I get in too! It'll be nice to already know some one on the course, where abouts are you from? I'm in Gloucestershire.

I got in!!

the interview was not too bad actually, the maths test was the worst bit for me. no calculator, dealing with frections, percentages, decimals, unit conversions, averages and long multiplication and division! pretty much GCSE level stuff, but it floored me! i was so out of practice with that sort of maths and prob answered 2 out of the 10 questions right i just wanted to cry and leave at that point.

the essay was fine, but i did run out of time, they do tell you it dosent matter if you do as they are looking more at your knowledge and understanding than your ability to produce a perfect essay.

then they do individual interviews to see that you have inderstood the level of commitment that the course requires - the staff were really lovely so that part was not scary at all. then finally a tour of the campus and the facilities, which are really impressive.

im sooo excited to start now, just cannot wait for september to come.

good luck with your interview

Re: DipAVN @ Harper - Interview essay? I have heard there is also a maths exam...? Any advice hugely appreciated

Thanks

Re: DipAVN @ Harper - Interview essay?
i think im ready now, i have an introduction and a conclusion which are semi memerised and i can write out in under 5 mins each.

the rest of the essay is split into 4 sections on which i plan to spend 5 mins each, i have a sheet with the main points for each of those paragrphs on and will keep trying to make those stick in my head so i dont miss anything!

to those of you who have interviewed before for Dip Avn courses - what did they ask you at the interview? obviously why i want to do it? but anything else?

- i do have a research project in mind should they ask, i know my main areas of nursing intrest etc.

Waaaa in 48 hrs it will all be over! and ill be waiting for the answer! and drinking huge quantities of wine!

I must pass this interview, ill be so crushed if im not good enough.

Re: DipAVN @ Harper - Interview essay? First 5 mins write Intro. 20 mins main body - split in to the points you want to make (4 main points = 5mins each) and then last 5 mins conclusions.

Re: DipAVN @ Harper - Interview essay?
1. Tell 'em what you're going to say.

2. Tell 'em.

3. Tell 'em what you said.

(yes, it's a bit more complicated than that!)

Re: DipAVN @ Harper - Interview essay?
I did this the year before last and I am now on my final module!

Just try and format it into an essay so a start, middle and end. Dont worry about the references or citations through it - they are looking at your techinical knowledge and writing ability. They are looking for the fact you know your generic names of drugs not trade names, how they work etc etc

if you need any other help just shout!!
