Thank you all for your advice, took her to the exotic vet today!

He said that the xrays were okay, she is quite bunged up but not too much to worry about, she has alot of food in her tummy but no obstructions!

I was told to introduce metoclopramide 2mg/kg sid and to start stomach tubing her with critical care formula bid as this will help with hydration. i am to stop feeding the crickets for a couple of days to help loosen everything up and if still no result in 5 days to try an enema and then if still no help then recheck and poss sx but i hope it won't come to that!

Thanks haley for the advice on the reptile carpet, i haven't used it before and i dont know anyone who had so its nice for someone to reassure me!

Re: Help with a leopard Gecko

I wouldnt wait to put the reptile carpet in until 'she is back to normal' My dragon had problems with his leg when they x rayed him he sand in his tummy - took him straight off it and never looked back - the carpet is cleaner, tidier and doesnt make feaces smell. The only thing you might have to do is up the tempereture so as not to upset the gecko? To keep it at the right temp. Hope your gecko is ok.

Other than that, my standard advice for a'sick reptile' would be:

increase heat levels - and I wouldn't allow the temp in the tank to fall below 70 minimum, even overnight.

increase hydration - both by regular warm baths (we bathe inpatients at least 4 times daily) and per os. Critical care formula by Vetark, mixed to the correct concentration, is also very good for sickies! Give a lot of fluid per os - by syringe if necc - if it is an impaction, it may help.

But there can be numerous reasons for illness in the same way there can be for a mammal - so if tis doesn't help within couple of days then I'd advise getting it seen.

By the way, I HATE sand! I woldn't use it as a sole substrate. Problems it causes?

impactions

conjunctivitis

'dirty envionment' - usually not changed often enough

etc etc etc

Good luck

I am sure she will reply when she comes on again or you could send her a private message?
