Just wondering how you keep your consult tops so they're tidy?
We've tried a range of optons and none of them work (which may be the vets fault) lol!
Thanks

Re: consult tops

I put ours in the kennels sink along with the dirty dog bowls ( I was feeling 'kind' that day and didnt put them in the sink with the litter trays) - they were very quickly claimed and thoroughly cleaned before I saw them again in the staff room . I am surprised it bothered some tho - I was horrified to see one of them using the post mortem knife to cut a birthday cake one day (it put me off any cake for quite some time).

Amazing what you have to come up with to get a response sometimes. Sometimes you have to get creative to get what you want

Re: consult tops

If I know whose left dirty cups, dishes laying in the sink I have been known to take them out and put them in their tray! That often gets a good reaction, but unfortunately our trays aren't very deep so can't put too much in! Lol

Re: consult tops

Lol, one of our vets took the same opinion on the state of the staff room and slowly did away with all the cups. We even have a dishwasher, but things still get left lying in the sunk and it is so frustrating for those of us in the practice who are clean and tidy and always end up cleaning up after everyone else.
I've actually resorted to having my own mug I bring to and from work cos I got sick of there never being any clean mugs and being sick of the fool who always washed up!
I have frequently told the vets I'm not their mother after I refused to check pockets before putting things in the wash and a pen ended up staining a number of consult tops. Sigh.

I think the main problem is most of our vets seem to refuse to take responsibility. Another massive bugbear of mine at the moment is the 'missing' spare Caesar kits for the farm vets. We should have 3 but only 1 is in the box, so obviously 2 are either lost or hiding in a vets car, yet WE get questioned where they are...!

Sorry rant over!!

Re: consult tops

can empathise - where I used to work the rule was if you didnt take care of laundering your own scrubs you took pot luck and they went in the same washing load as bloody drapes, gowns etc, that was generally enough to encourage people to take them home and launder them.

In the staff room I used to have a sign up saying 'your mother doesnt work here and until she does you clean up for yourself'. There were some who thought I was joking until they went into the staff room one day and found that all plates, cups, cutlery and anything else contributing to the 'biological experiment' taking place in the sink had been removed. (not thrown away just removed until people claimed their mess and cleaned it)

I dont think I was being unduly harsh - we all have to work together and if somebody makes my job harder just because they cant be bothered I wont give them an easy ride. I have a very slow fuse but once its lit

Re: consult tops

[quote user="SmegSlayer"]
Pretty much everywhere I've worked the vets are in charge of their own consult tops. Wow, not a chance I could get our vets to do that. I struggle to get them to put them in the wash bin! Many of them will wear them all day consults and then hang them up behind the consult rooms...I'm not sure why, cos surely no one else will want to wear them! Lol. Getting those hooks taken down is on my 'to do' jobs cos that might help. Comes down to the fact they are too lazy to walk down to prep to put them away.

Re: consult tops

Pretty much everywhere I've worked the vets are in charge of their own consult tops. The zip lock bags 'might' work, but then I'm still not sure we're I'd then store them.

When using the shoe organiser, did you roll them up to store them?

Thanks everyone so far!

Re: consult tops

I have used the hanging shoe organisers before
