I did all the usual cleaning wise, had the carpets steam cleaned, and then went over them again then found the underlay on the carpet was the problem so that was removed and replaced. We used feliway and I resorted to putting food bowls over areas where she had soiled (after they had been cleaned) to prevent her soiling in that area again. We did eventually get over this when I stripped the wallpaper in the hall and redecorated (it did look like previous feline occupants had probably been spraying the wall at some stage when I started to strip wallpaper)

hope you can sort this I know how frustrating it can be

They are always 'hanging out' in the utility room looking out of the window . could put trays in the day in others rooms but a) the peeing is always at night and b) its not nice with a 7 month old wiggly baby having the trays around for obv reasons!

Re: Cats peeing and pooing everywhere!!!!!

Have the litter trays been at the back door in the utility room since you moved into the house?

Thank you for all your advice. Sorry not responded I was waiting to hear back from a few people what your thoughts on this subject were.

It seems that you have the same general idea.

They have a litter tray each and access outside during the day. The trays are in the utility room by the back door and I bring one into the kitchen at night time as I thought this may help?

I have sprayed everywhere that they pee with feliway and used correct cleaning fluid. They even peed on top of the plastic id used to cover a wet patch over night. Last night I resorted to tin foil all over the sofa. Didnt find any wee this am, but will see tomorrow!

The only room we can really keep them in is our bedroom which isn't ideal with litter trays and peeing/pooing on our bed. ( downstairs is all open plan the only door being to the utility room. If we got a heater we could lock them in here at night, its much much to cold without)

Not sure im keen to resort to anysort of sedative for them all, I had an elderly cat who was put on diazapam years ago for peeing (seemed to be the done thing in practice then) and I always remember how wobbly and ravenous she always seemed to be.

Thanks guys

Re: Cats peeing and pooing everywhere!!!!!

OMG!

Hope this helps - otherwise I would definitely look at a cat behaviourist for more specialist advice Good luck!

Re: Cats peeing and pooing everywhere!!!!!

Hi,

have you adhered to the +1 rule? so 3 litter trays + an extra one? And are they in areas where they are away from noise, interruption and onlookers? It's the problem with cats isnt it, they can be stressed about so many small things, its trying to find it out thats the problem :) has their litter changed? Have they been out yet or are they still in and if so do they get on with each other? I had 5 cats at one point and tried desperately to make them happy but I had to accept that they did not like being with each other and so 2 were rehomed. Broke my heart but I still keep in contact and they are so much more settled. Hope you get to the bottom of this.

Re: Cats peeing and pooing everywhere!!!!!

Make them a safe room, keep them there for a couple of weeks, then gradually expand- after applying scent cloths to every room.

I had to give one of my cats (has long term stress issues etc) a week of Diazapam (0.01mg.kg), after this he is a different cat! Even a year later! He no longer pulls his fur out, or hides from visitors. I started him on meds 2 weeks after moving back in to our flat (moved out for a few months whilst it was being decorated). He didn't mind the move out, but the move back freaked him out. He Displayed similar behaviour to your cats.

Re: Cats peeing and pooing everywhere!!!!!

You have done alot. Didn't want to read and run! Its a horrid situation- been there with my cats.

I know you have moved for more space, but did you start with the cats in 1 room and introduce them to the new space gradually? It may be they are confused with the extra space? it sounds like they have had a number of changes with the new baby and maybe confusion over their territory is the final straw. Could they go back to 1 room with beds/trays and see of they settle?

We consulted Vicky Halls twice for our Persian and she was brilliant - Vicky, not the Persian. The Persian views husband as 24 hr play thing...
