I'm 32 weeks pregnant and I know obviously I can't pick up large dogs and things like that but recently I've been struggling when

Re: Carrying whilst Pregnant

Thanks for the comments, really helpful.... Gillian, yes I can talk to my colleagues, you're right I'm only here for another 4 weeks but unfortunately the other nurse is newly pregnant too so don't want to force her to do more either. Will have a chat to the other staff to see if they can help out a bit more.

Thanks everyone!

Re: Carrying whilst Pregnant

I doubt you will find an 'official amount' as everyone is different in what they are happy/able to do, but, at 32 weeks, could you not just approach your colleagues about this? Afterall, you'll only be at work a few more weeks so it doesn't seem unreasonable for you to avoid carrying things if you are finding it difficult.

Re: Carrying whilst Pregnant

My place has had a pregnant nurse on a yearly basis (no help from me and not making my place sound great haha) but I know 5kg is the limit placed on pregnant staff for carrying. Not sure if that is official everywhere

Re: Carrying whilst Pregnant

Maybe ask the midwife what she suggests? I remember I used to struggle with cats in baskets too, I think its also the awkwardness of a bump and an uneven load in the basket! My lovely colleagues used to carry pets out for me. I would say, if you are struggling and in any doubt, try not to do it because you dont want to risk any problems with bump.

good luck with the baby! xx
