Oh don't worry I intend to. One of our volenteers said she bought a puppy from there back when it was under the other name, and within 6months it had hip displacement. They wouldn't help at all. I wanted to take the collie, because as you rightly have said, I felt sorry for the poor guy.

But it's so wrong, there's no way I could look after a collie, I'm not home enough.

I think this all started off as designer because celebrities in America asked for a labradoodle to be bred, and ta-da! There was a new breed, now everyone's at it!. I went to dogs4us yesterday and there are massive pictures of celebrities like Colleen and Wayne Rooney and Mickey Hatton on the wall..So is it any wonder people are prepared to pay a fortune.

We went to have a look because my partner wants a beagle. But this place was awful, they had pups that were 5/6 weeks old in a litter without mum and some where in pens on their own, looking so miserable. I felt terrible after visiting. I asked to see a collie who was on his own, he was so excited when she opened up the pen, because he wanted to get out so bad, poor fella.

I've been working as a locum VN in Australia the last 7 months and you would not believe the amount of designr dogs here! Everything is crossed with a poodle, so here goes: Moodle,Groodle,Schnoodle,Pugoodle,Cavoodle and thats just to name a few its crazy and the worst thing is they are sold in pet shops here for nearly $800 which is about £450.00 how mad is that! its just wrong I wonder some times!

well one of our student nurses boyfriends is a policeman and he was bitten quite badly whilst trying to arrest someone yesterday by a 'designer dog' if you want to call it that - a cross between a shar pei and a pitbull type.

i say designer as this type of dog is becoming more and more fashionable to have as a status symbol

We've got a lovely SBT x Sharpei comes to us...She is called Lola and she is very pretty actually and lovely natured suprisingly x

I have a designer dog. Not sure what name you can give him though, he's a dachshund mix perro de agua (spanish water dog) he was very very expensive (0€) and if a dog could have downs syndrome he has it!! He spends every day being dragged around the garden at work or being sat on by a golden retriever and a pointer! I call him Fergus but my boss calls him stupid dog!! Who needs designer dogs when you can have a Fergus!!

This is fergus protecting his octopus from Mae the dachshund (no he's not doing a very good job, I told you he was stupid!) Love him to bits though, i might get more of these "designer dogs" from my neighbour (Spanish lady who hasn't really heard of spaying her animals, and I give in trying to explain!) and come and sell them for a fortune in the UK if it's all the rage!! ha ha

We had a lady in this week with her new puppy, which she admitted cost her £550 and its a Labradoodle cross - WTF???? surely thats just a mongrel crossed with another mongrel??? Stupid people!

Personally I own a Lesser Known Bat-eared Cheese Hound - there aren'y many of them around!!

of all the dogs we have referred over the past few years to a behaviourist, labradoodles have made up the vast majority... i think people don't realise they're getting a very intelligent, big, active dog. Most labradoodle owners seem to be first time dog owners too..

Springador's seem to be quite a popular working breed among some gamekeepers, again the trouble arises when this active working breed, bred specifically to work ends up in a pet home without the necessary stimulation.

The new popular one around us is the cockerschon....cocker spaniel x bichon frise....cute enough but i hate to think what they cost

I had in my clinic the other day a JRT x Shih Tzu, looked just like a JRT with a flatter nose and bigger eyes but all I could think of was the client had paid for a jack shi* !!

anyone for a pomchi - these were all the rage a couple of years back (pomeranian x chihuahua x?crocodile ) never met a nice one! lots of teeth and not a lot temper. Usually had names like Gucci, Chardonnay, Versace, and appeared to live their entire lives in handbags. Were changing hands at around a £1000.

We are inundated with these desigener dogs, IMO they are not guaranteed hereditary free from problems though - labs and std poodles can both have HD therefore these are likely t if not now in the near future. Also insurance comanies are now classing some of these as pedigree eg labradoodle. I have noticed we do get a lot of snappy small designer dogs, not sure if breeding or the owners eg yorkiepoo. I have to admit to liking the look of cockalier though - cocker shape with cavalier colouring and temeprament!!

Just some of the ones we have had - whipbull, yorkiepoo, sprollie, springerdor, labradoodle, cockalier, jug, cockapoo, yorkadale, also yorkie chihuahua - what do you cal those!!
