For the first week you run for a minute, and walk for 1 and a half mins, then run for another minute, then walk again for min and a half, and you do this eight times in a session.

I will get the link for you anyway, later today when hubby is home.

Re: I need to loose half a stone

STRVN, have you got a link for that beginners running thingy!

Hi Laura, what exercises are you doing, and what diet are you on? Remeber not to starve yourself, that does not work, the body will automatically hold onto any fat if you are constantly hungry....... the brain will think it is a famine and hold onto reserves as much as possible. So to loose you must eat as well as exercise.

Re: I need to loose half a stone

Paula, I agree with sal, dont do that. The thing is the faster it comes off, the more likely you are to put it back on........ and more.

The thing is it's not just diet, exercise is the main key to loosing weight and keeping it off.

I cant remember if it was a pm I said this to you but I have a healthy diet,(apart from my crisps, and wine which I have cut out) but still managed to put on half a stone...... personally I think it is middle age spread, so no change of diet is going to really help me loose it, so I have taken up exercise. Even though I walk my dogs which is a lot of exercise anyway, obv it is not enough, so I have decided roller blading, plus some ab crunches(that is where my weight gain is concentrated). Now everyone who knows me, knows I dont do exercise, it's not my thing, but I have to say I actually feel better for it, and although I said I would not run.......very boring, I am actually considering it.

Hubby downloaded a beginners running regime for me, where you run for a min, then walk for a min and a half......... basically you build it up over 8 weeks and by the end of it should be able to run without stopping for 30 mins. So next week, I will be going out on Hubby's runs with him, although I will be keeping my own pace.

Re: I need to loose half a stone

My best friend is getting married in october and has decided that I have to wear a dress (boo!! ) so i have to lose about 4 stone by july(ish) (i think thats when the final ftting is) so decided back in january to join the gym and eat healthily... its not working

any ideas??

Re: I need to loose half a stone

2 stone by the end of May ! - you are risking making yourself ill there.
Just to say, at my work we have been doing 'The Biggest Loser' for about 6 months now.

We all have our own target weights we want to reach, (end date is next week!) we support each other to eat healthily during the week and weigh in on Friday mornings. So far, the biggest lesson has been to READ the nutrional values on food you are buying!! So often a meal you think is healthy has lots of hidden fat or really high calories.

Also, exercise is the name of the game!!! Regular exercise that gets your heart racing for over 30 minutes is the only way to actually burn fat. And once you start its really easy to keep going!

In my work, its really interesting to see the different attitudes people have to weight loss. Some will have a bad day and instantly give up on the diet, pig out then blame other people when they don't get the results they want. Others can have a bad day and feel everything else is going to hell in a handbasket but at least I still have control over my health and way I look!

Good Luck everybody.

I'm looking forward to next weeks weigh in. Having lost 6.6kgs and feeling healthier, happier and more energetic than I have in years I can definitely say its worth it :)
