Hubby has been able to do flexi time so when I'm on a late shift he can pick up kids for me. Luckily not many weekends and no OOH.
Luckily I stayed registered for afew years after leaving practice so I didn't need to do any retraining when I re-register last year.

Re: Got an interview - not nursed for 8 years - HELP!!

I really want to get back into nursing and would do as much CPD that I need to , to bring my knowledge up to date and refresh my skills.
I think you said it yourself! It would be unrealistic to expect yourself to get up to date too quickly and a good practice will recognise this, but to say what you said above is honest and will show you have a good, responsible attitude. I think you also have to do a period of 'supervised re-integration' if you have been away from the profession for a certain length of time, the RCVS will have info on this. Good luck! Let us know how you get on.
I agree, be honest with what you're capable of. The practical stuff will probably come back to you very easily but so much has changed since I qualified.

I think you may not be able to become a registered VN until you have completed the re-integration process. You'll have to ring the RCVS because if I remember right, this has to be done at a training practice. Obviously until then you cannot do any schedule 3 which includes administering drugs.

It might seem very difficult for you now but it's really great for you to be considering coming back. Good luck with the interview.
