And do you have a notebook that you write computer numbers down or what do poeple do?

I have a list at our main centre of things I need done so they can call me if they have an endoscope etc come in and I use a notebook to record ref's and what was done and the date. I try to look at my NPL at least twice a week and add any experiances as often as I can.

I had a very slow start but I have realised I have to be proactive - if I leave it up to my CC who is a vet nothing will ever get done.

Re: Keeping up with the NPL

My students get set goals every two wks if they complete them great there logged and for the harder to get cases it brings then to the attention of other staff members started doing it two months ago and seems to be helping

Re: Keeping up with the NPL

Ok thank you very much :)

Re: Keeping up with the NPL

I finished college last summer and am still tackling the NPL (all be it last bits now)! Mainly because my fourth and final (hopefully!) clinical coach is the only one that seems to be on the ball with it all. As a student I find using a notepad much easier, although sometimes I've found I've just scribbled an ID down and have no idea what it's in relation to! For my final cases needed, I've put posters around the clinic so the vets and other can assign me to their patients if they materialise. I'll be so pleased once I'm done...then practicals...argh...!

Re: Keeping up with the NPL

And risk not Neil! Normally for things we see regularly or they can gain experience for by simulation such as X-ray positioning, lab stuff n nurse cons. We also hav a list of things to keep an eye out for such as the critical cases which it's harder to plan for. I don't think u can be rigid with targets as it depends what comes in but it helps to focus each student and reduces the Neil of them killing each other to get the same cases lol! As for recording my students each have their own notebook in which they record a ref number and the animals details, date and what was done so we can refer back if we need to or when Iv'd.
Hope that helps
