I have the Merina coil (and Provera tablets as back up) and it's fab. No more PMT!!, pain is minimal as it can be with my condition.

I have severe endometriosis, adhesions from surgeries and fibroids.

Tried most of the contraceptive meds that worked from a couple of months to a couple of years.

Hmm, nothing of any use to offer I'm afraid but I've also been asked to reevaluate my contraception. I read all the info and STILL don't like the idea of a coil. OH freaked out when we had a chat about it.

I considering the implant but noone can tell me how long it takes for everything to get back to normal i.e. how long will it take (my meagre fertility) to come back. Thinking of trying for kids but have no time frame at the moment. I found it all a little confusing

Something I found out the other day....... some women when they reach their middle thirties can suddenly develop serious PMT. There is no explanation as to why, it just happens.

But I was like this a little while ago and my Dr diagnosed me with mild depression and referred me to counselling. The final straw came for me when I was walking round tescos with my hubbie and went from being bubbly happy [my normal state] to tears with no reason.

Hope you get sorted soon. It's not a nice place to be.

I need to go back on cileste. It was the only thing that did not want me to kill everything. But then have only ever been on that pill. Stopped some time ago, lazy stop and not got back on them and get black kill it moods l can feel them coming you know when you just want to explode ahh like someone said hormones you gotta gottas god knows l guess live with them

I loved Dianette. I've got PCOS and it was the only one that had the slightest effect on my mood and the other gorgeous symptoms of PCOS. I've recently been taken off it as I'd been on it too long. About 6 years too long, as it's only meant to be used for 18 months or so.

Before I was diagnosed I tried a few of them. Cilest made me want to kill things. I scared myself by how dark I felt. Mycrogynon made me a big crying mess to the point I'd cry at tv adverts! I'm now on Marvelon which seems to be ok so far but isn't going to help with the PCOS symptoms and I've put on half a stone even though I've been careful.

Hormones - gotta love 'em!

Wouldnt say its turned me looney!,(I dont think!) but constantly feel sick and tierd. but am only on my first month of it so will have to wait and see I suppose!

OMG - was just catching up on this post and saw this!!! That is so disgusting and so very, very worrying. I am currently waiting to see a psychiatrist that I have been referred to by my local clinic - damn I hope it doesn't take that long!!! I was diagnosed with bipolar a few years back and when we moved to the UK I went through a bit of a bad time at the beginning. So I went off to the doc to say I have this condition, I'm not doing well, please refer me to a counsellor. Guess what he told me?? I am just stressed and must relax and I don't need to see anyone... I'm like hello, I have been in therapy for 2 years - I think I know when something is wrong and I need to get it sorted asap! I have been to a private psychiatrist, but I just can't afford £340 an hour (no jokes).

Sorry, rant over.

I think in our profession we have to be carefull of the drugs we handle but also what we eat. I know im bad with my diet and need to take multivitiamins just to give me an extra boost. As we do, do a hard (mentally and physically) draining job!

I'm heading back to the docs tomorrow.

Just started my first pill-free period. Lol. It was nice and on time too. Not tooooo bad so far!

I'm still not coping very well. So i'm considering hypnotherapy if I can afford it, and having a chat with a nurse practitioner at the docs tomorrow,

I suffer from bi-polar mood disorder but it took a long time to sort out. I dont think anyone is knoocking them as such, just saying that a correct diagnosis should be given before they are given out, also that a lot of Dr's are dishing them out like sweets even when people are not depressed, which in itself can be detrimental to the health of the person.

And I agree if used carefully there should not be any problems, but if you are diagnosed incorrectly, then there can be a whole heap of problems.

dont be too quick to knock antidepressants, there are different types and different strengths, i had similar probs , had tried herbal types etc, and saw doct they monitor you carefully and was given lowest dose, they worked well for me, got me through a horrid patch and had no side effects, or probs comming off them, if used carefully there shouldnt be any problems.

my brother wife had a little girl when she was 17 (before she met him) and apparently didnt show, she went to hospital one night after college popped the baby out in 20mins and went back to college the next day and her friends said you coming out tonight and she said no ive got a baby to look after and they were like since when? lol if only it was that easy (not that ive had a child but ive heard horror stories for births) she went on to go the uni and everything tho good on her i say
