Hmm, nothing of any use to offer I'm afraid but I've also been asked to reevaluate my contraception. I read all the info and STILL don't like the idea of a coil. OH freaked out when we had a chat about it.

I considering the implant but noone can tell me how long it takes for everything to get back to normal i.e. how long will it take (my meagre fertility) to come back. Thinking of trying for kids but have no time frame at the moment.

I loved Dianette. I've got PCOS and it was the only one that had the slightest effect on my mood and the other gorgeous symptoms of PCOS. I've recently been taken off it as I'd been on it too long. About 6 years too long, as it's only meant to be used for 18 months or so.

Before I was diagnosed I tried a few of them. Cilest made me want to kill things. I scared myself by how dark I felt. Mycrogynon made me a big crying mess to the point I'd cry at tv adverts! I'm now on Marvelon which seems to be ok so far but isn't going to help with the PCOS symptoms and I've put on half a stone even though I've been careful.

Hormones - gotta love 'em!

Re: Advice please

Hi Katy

OMG - was just catching up on this post and saw this!!! That is so disgusting and so very, very worrying. I am currently waiting to see a psychiatrist that I have been referred to by my local clinic - damn I hope it doesn't take that long!!! I was diagnosed with bipolar a few years back and when we moved to the UK I went through a bit of a bad time at the beginning. So I went off to the doc to say I have this condition, I'm not doing well, please refer me to a counsellor. Guess what he told me?? I am just stressed and must relax and I don't need to see anyone... I'm like hello, I have been in therapy for 2 years - I think I know when something is wrong and I need to get it sorted asap! I have been to a private psychiatrist, but I just can't afford £340 an hour (no jokes).

Sorry, rant over.

Re: Advice please

I had major issues with that pill!
I am not sure about Scotland and England, but over here in Northern Ireland, if you are very severely depressed, you get an immediate response from 'Crisis Response Team'. They are a group of trained and qualified psychiatric nurses. Obviously, the first contact with them is through your doctor but after that, you can contact them when you need them. They come to your house - no matter where you live/no matter what time, day or night/stay as long as you need them. Will always phone you the next day and come to see you daily until they feel you are improving.

Hi Katy

How are you doing since coming off the Pill? I see that your thread went on a bit of a tangent with pro antidepressants vs against anti-depressants Same for the Pill.

I suffer from bi-polar mood disorder but it took a long time to sort out. What I've learnt since being diagnosed with a mental illness is that more than half of the world's populaton suffers from depression in their life time. Not that I'm a doctor or an expert but from the above it does seem that you might be stressed which has maybe led to depression??

The best advice I can give is to talk to someone and I don't mean friends or family. Talk to a therapist because they are objective so you know that the advice they give you won't be persuaded by their own personal feelings in terms of your life.

I promise you that if you find someone you trust , it's the best thing in the world and really does work wonders. It is difficult in the beginning but well worth it. The therapist will be able to see if you do need anti-depressants or if you need other methods to help. He/she will also be abe to give you advice on time management, health, hobbies etc etc.

If you do need meds, they'll refer you to a psychiatrist. Psychiatrists study for an extra 5 years to be "head shrinks". So definately a better option than gettng something from your local GP

Anyway, I hope you're doing ok. It's a terrible place to be when you can't control your emotions. Good luck!

How are you doing since coming off the Pill? I see that your thread went on a bit of a tangent with pro antidepressants vs against anti-depressants Same for the Pill.

I suffer from bi-polar mood disorder but it took a long time to sort out.
And I agree if used carefully there should not be any problems, but if you are diagnosed incorrectly, then there can be a whole heap of problems.

Re: Advice please

dont be too quick to knock antidepressants, there are different types and different strengths, i had similar probs , had tried herbal types etc, and saw doct they monitor you carefully and was given lowest dose, they worked well for me, got me through a horrid patch and had no side effects, or probs comming off them, if used carefully there shouldnt be any problems.

Re: Advice please

my brother wife had a little girl when she was 17 (before she met him) and apparently didnt show, she went to hospital one night after college popped the baby out in 20mins and went back to college the next day and her friends said you coming out tonight and she said no ive got a baby to look after and they were like since when? lol if only it was that easy (not that ive had a child but ive heard horror stories for births) she went on to go the uni and everything tho good on her i say

Re: Advice please

[quote user="melmatsonRVN"]
