I know nursing clinics are the obvious ones but there must be loads more........

If you get a bunch of people together with a common interest (ie their pets illness or should I say wellness) not only can they learn a lot from each other but we can learn a lot from them - ie the products they rate and would buy and the products they dont.

I miss my evening does

Re: nurses input

They sound like a good idea Sal. Are you running them in evening after vet consults are finished or at the same time?

Re: nurses input

I found the 'social evenings' did very well clients seemed to like them - ie you get groups of people together whose animals have the same problem (such as arthritis) once they all get together chatting and sharing ideas or things that have helped their animals the sales went up on JD and supplements and people generally attended each time they ran, in fact people used to call quite often to ask if I was doing them more frequently (I used to do them once a month or once a fortnight depending on what they were) - great for bonding clients and also word of mouth we gained a few clients too.

For anything you are doing that involves sales just make sure you have stock in or if you have run out take payment at the time of ordering - that way you know your client is going to come back if they have already paid and you arent left with 'dead money' sitting on the shelf going out of date and waiting to be collected. You wouldnt believe how many times I have come across this in various practices

There are loads of things you can do with a little imagination - especially if you are running them in a well stocked waiting room and work smart - get your reps involved let them do some of the work for you

Do you mean how to start doing nurse clinics or what other type of income generating ideas outside of the consulting room?

The only ones i can think of outside of consulting is food sales. If an early renal patient is diagnosed and they go onto the practice renal diet and stick to it because you have explained (sold) the benefis of why important to stay on long term, the repeat business of the food sales to the practice is worth a lot. not only money but also in client bonding and trust.

the other ones are parasite control for the same reason.

Both these can be discussed in the waiting room or when an inpatient is discharged (with their clinicall diet) and don;t really need follow up consults (although you could start renal clinics in the case of renal patient!)

I hope this makes sense and helps
