Now at 29 i,m trying to break in again but i,m more mature and dermined than before. Before i managed to get into veterinary practice to gain experience I sent of my cv, covering letter every month to training practices in the area, I begged my vet each time I seen him, I visited vets and pestered them til my persistance paid off - don't give up , thats my regret Keep trying, keep a copy of CV and cover letter on the computer and fire it off every month - try visit even if it is just with your CV. They probably gave me a placement as they were fed up getting emails every month! For to apply for the Veterinary Nurse course here You MUST have a minimum of 2 weeks in a VET PRACTICE.

I,d say keep in there but be prepared to wait. Good Luck

Re: Seeking Veterinary Nurse apprenticeship

[quote user="Stephanie Bell"]

I had a look at your cv and i noticed that while you have had experience with animals you have had no work experience in a vet practice were you planning on getting this?

Re: Seeking Veterinary Nurse apprenticeship

Maybe if you can ask to volunteer at a practice near you?? If they know you and see you work they maybe more inclined to take you on for student nurse when a position becomes available.

Unfortunately training positions are hard to find and are like gold dust. ( I know!! Tried for years)

Good luck!!

Re: Seeking Veterinary Nurse apprenticeship

https://www.pdsa.org.uk/careers/seeing-practice

Might be worth a try - there's a PDSA in Gateshead. I got my work experience by volunteering at PD near me (Essex) and now I'm doing my work placement there. (It's unpaid cos I'm at uni)

You might find you do better by visiting rather than writing (everyone writes, you need to stand out) - you've got a few months so don't panic!
