She isn't going to be replaced so its likely going to mean one of the remaining rvn's having to take over. I would

Re: Being a clinical coach

It does take time to open stuff and sign stuff off, plus there is the planning side of it - you really need weekly meetings to plan NPL and plan training etc which has to be recorded for college purposes. It is time consuming so make sure you can have time set aside to have meetings with your student. Once tasks are open and your student has the hang of things as long as your student is commited it should be fine. Make sure the student knows its their responsibility to be logging and noting down cases - what takes the time is if you are running round aftre your student saying you need to this, that and the other or have you logged that. Just make sure the boss knows whoever is taking over a CC gets the time they need in the rota.

Re: Being a clinical coach

some of it is very repetitive. I often recorded what we had done during the day when I was at home especially if it was nursing stuff as we didn't have a computer in the kennel room. As long as you and your student keep on top of logging stuff as opposed to just doing it every week or so it makes life a lot easier

Re: Being a clinical coach

There's not a ton of paperwork, NPL is a lot easier to use than the old portfolio. It does have some really stupid things in it (I feel) but as long as you're fairly computer literate, it's really easy to use. I don't find it high stress but my student is only in 1st year, we're a kind of quiet branch so I'll have to send her to our main branch for some of her 2nd year stuff so that might get a bit annoying.

If you've got the time, I definitely say it's worth it.
