I don't house sit, but do offer home boarding for £15 per night for one dog incl feed and walks. House visits for cats etc within a 5 mile radius of my house are £6.50 for first daily visit, £5.50 for subsequent visits. Extra mileage at 50p/mile - Hope that helps :)

ETA I do have insurance etc!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Much appreciated. Having only done it for family and one other vet friend before I had no idea what was reasonable. My vet friend had 3 cats and 7 guinea pigs, I just went in twice a day to feed and fuss and clean, and she gave me £10 a day for that. Thanks again. :)

I regularly house sit for a couple who have a dog and a cat, i get paid £20 per night. In your case i would definitely charge more to cover petrol money

When I did it a while back, I said £10 per day for dogs, £8 for cats & £5 for small furries - discount for multi-pet households

I charge from £25 per night house sitting, depending on type/number of animals and amount of work involved. I do hold public liability insurance, 'care, custody and control' insurance and key insurance for this purpose. I cant see how anybody can do it for £11, they probably have no insurance, appropriate experience or qualifications! It is a responsibility looking after another persons house and pets and personally I wouldn't do it without insurance, I like to know I'm covered just in case something does happen!

I would normally charge £15-£20 a night but that would include at least one walk so I think you are justified in charging £25-30 to cover your petrol

I agree with the other posts, phone some local pet sitting companies or get on websites and check out how much other ppl charge. I used to charge £10 a visit for cat sitting...didnt ever stay in the house though, so i would have thought you should be able to charge at least £20-30 a day to cover your time and petrol etc. It would have cost them much more to put the dogs and cats into kennels.

Ive only ever done this for friends and family so never really asked for a set amount, but if you consider how much a boarding kennels/cattery would charge in your area (eg, about £10 per animal per day in my area) and undercut that, they are saving a considerable amount and know you are there keeping an eye on the house

It depends where you live really but in London that would easily be £30-40 per night
