I was planning to go to Nepal later this year and had thought about going to the chitwan national park to volunteer with the elephants however I have been researching and found some really bad reviews and tales of animal cruelty. All are well treated and the mahouts have been looking after them since they were children. It's possible to volunteer with the elephants if you have 2 + months to spare and can commit to twice a week english lessons in their homes. It really is amazing riding the giant eles to work in the morning or see them run past the bedrooms early hours!

Re: Chitwan national park

Hi, you can also check out this organisation I've been working with http://www.earsasia.org/home.html (dont know how to make that a hyperlink).
Let me know how you get on. Nepal is a fascinating country, would love to go back some day!

Re: Chitwan national park

Thanks for your help guys, I will do just that

I thought I was well educated until I saw fottage of elephant training for captivity and domestication for zoos and ele riding etc. let me know how you get on and let her know I refered you, just be careful.
