Other symptoms of dyspraxia may also include:

poor balance and coordination

clumsiness

emotional and behavioural problems

sensitivity to noise and touch

speech difficulties

My 2 brothers have both just been 'diagnosed' with dyslexia & dyspraxia. I believe dyspraxia is to do with (difficulty/lack of) organisational skills/social interaction etc. To give an example; we always thought my brother was lazy and immature and, whilst to a degree he is, it is largely related to the fact he has dyspraxia.

I've never heard of dyspraxia displaying things such as a sensitivity to noise and extreme behaviour. Sounds like something else to me.

I think it is part of the phobias and fears which are part of dyspraxia too. I remeber reading on a website about childhood dyspraxia and they do describe repetative noises, and also certain materials and not being able to touch them. I will try and find it again

Re: help!!!!!!

My 2 brothers have both just been 'diagnosed' with dyslexia & dyspraxia.

Not sure exactly, but sufferers dont like repetative noises, sometimes they can scream out loud for no reason, they have a short attention span, and dont like certain fabrics touching them.

Someone said my daughter may have had it, as she hates someone tapping their fingers, to the point of covering her ears, she also wont sit on my setee, as she cannot bear the feel of the fabric, and when she was little we used to call her the screamer as she would scream for no reason whatsoever......... thankfully she grew out of the screaming.

Her attention span is definitely short, you can ask her to get you something from another room, and by the time she gets there she has forgotton why she was there.

Personally I think she is just a bit too laid back, and she it a top student in all her subjects so doubtful about the dyspraxia, although the fabric thing and finger tapping are huge issues with her. Who knows I love her to bits and it's certainly not holding her back.

Re: help!!!!!!

[quote user="claire teagle"]
