Hi Helen

Thanks for reminding me, that link really needed to be removed.

We're no longer holding a formal RCVS Council section on the sites. Instead, I will be inviting all candidates to start a new thread in the main forums titled: "[name] - Vote for me". In your thread, you can then discuss with everyone why they should vote for you. I will also email all members inviting them to come and take part in the forums.

I will also be standing for VN council this year. I have completed my biography and manifesto and it will all be sent tomorrow, once I have selected a photo.

I am nervous about it as I never done anything like this before, but I would like to try to be able to make a difference within the veterinary nurse profession and to be there to voice an opinion for the veterinary nurses who are working in practice.

I wanted to go on the 15th January, but I already had 2 nurses on holiday and 1 nurse at college, so it wasn't possible.

I agree with Helen, its trying to encourage nurses to vote which may be difficult.

Yes, I guess it can be, but then you'd have to do that if you were on council anyway, so I guess it's a good test of your practice's tolerance!

I went to the information day, it was really informative. It was just me representing VN's and 2 vets however, I can understand it is difficult to get time off work to go down to London mid week.

I would think the best idea would be to ask a current or past council member about the commitments/experience etc (although I think we're running out of time!)

Good for you. I voted for the first time last year. I suppose if you have issues its all very well ranting about them on this forum but at the end of the day you have to be proactive if you really want to make a difference!

I would consider it too but don't know much about it really, they don't appear to market it very well.

I agree - its a 4 year term, 6-8 days attendance and I'm sure alot of reading time in between times.

I would consider it at some point, its just not for me now. However I hope there are people out there ready adn keen. I noted they would like people still in practice. I hope that encourages some people.

Maybe ppl are concerned about adding to an already heavy workload? I know I would be.
