When I go to Italy later in the year my friend Seppe is threatening to give me some informal driving lessons! I still remember one of the last times I got into a car with him (1993).

There is this really busy roundabout near the colloseum, seems like loads of lanes of traffic with traffic lights on the roundabout. Problem is either nobody sees the traffic lights or nobody can be bothered to wait for them - result as Seppe says 'you see a gap and you go!' I did this trip twice a day for 2 whole weeks and got to the stage where I just closed my eyes and prayed to whichever god would listen. If I got the chance I sat in the backseat as I figured it was further from the accident.

One day I was spotted by Seppe with my eyes screwed shut and gripping the seat for safety - his remark 'hey you getta the idea - I do that too'
