I maybe don't post on the b*tchy threads, but I'm not seeing any at the mo.

Sadly I have noticed the cattiness seems to still be lurking around. I can understand differences of opinions but there seem to be a lot of people that feel they can use their opinions to put other people down. And contrary to come comments before, not all of these catty comments are from new members.

I think it is really sad when people come on a forum for advice/help and get shot down. They wouldn't be here if they didn't need the help. Some of us aren't very confident through no fault of our own and I think it is rather mean to put people down because of what they are asking.

I was coming on today to put a post about needing some support as I am struggling with anxiety issues at the moment. However, I am slightly concerned about what I may get back so instead feel it may be better to say goodbye to vetnurse as reading people being a little smart *** to each other may not be the best thing when I feel like I do. Sad times :(

We are all working for the same goal, and some of us may not know everything. That is life and all it takes is a little understanding and empathy. Sorry guys but think I am out :(

Aww it's a shame, I didn't realise it used to be like that, I assumed this was a place for support and help when questions and issues arise, so iv not really seen any heated discussions. I've been on from time to time, mainly when I could do with support from people who know what it's like in the van world! And everyone has always been kind and helpful. I'll be sure to make more of an effort to show my face more often to help bring back to community spirit! I've certainly the time now I'm on nights!! 😊

I tend to just check in now and then but used to view site daily. I find forums in general tend to sometimes get a bit argumentative at times. These days I try to avoid them.

Hey, I too am one of the oldies (but goodies ) was on the old site pretty much from day one and then came over to the new site when it went live.

I have stopped posting quite so much as well as everyone does seem to be a bit more defensive or aggressive and I don't feel that I can be myself quite so much as I used to,

I have met some fab people off here both in real life and on other social media and I can remember some times when we all banded together to offer support to some members who have needed it in some very dark times, I am not going to mention names but I am pretty sure they and the people involved all know who I am talking about. It does seem sad that there are some people who seem to be overly defensive and sometimes even aggressive in their posts, but it does seem a shame that we are letting the minority spoil it for the majority.

Hopefully now Arlo is back with us these posts can be monitored but please if we find posts offensive lets tell him he's only one man...even though he seems omni-present he cannot be expected to trawl through every single post, and then he can deal with as he sees fit.

Yes we will sometimes disagree on things but lets be polite about it all!! don't let ourselves be drawn into petty arguments over things that in the cold light of day when we re-read the posts may not seem so bad.

Hello everyone new and old... I've been on this site since 2006 and was one of the few Arlo picked to try this new site before going live... It has changed over the years. But everyyhing does in the end... Let's have a party guys ... What happened to posting in the vet nurse arms thread where we nattered and drank (emoticon style). That was fun :)

think I have to take my share of the blame for this. I've been so taken up with building the empire that I haven't been moderating in the way that I used to. I suppose the forums were so busy/friendly, I thought I could leave everyone to get on with it, so to speak.

What I've learned, though, is that without moderation, even the friendliest forums can go downhill. Mainly because as new people arrive, they often don't know how things work, and how you need to be so careful in your use of language online, because things often read far more critically than you intended. Forums need moderators to tell people to get back in their box when needed!

Anyway, I'm concentrating more on vetnurse.co.uk again now.

I really do urge anyone who thinks a post is a bit out of order to send me a PM with a link to the thread. I'll look at it immediately.

Just because old regulars don't come on anymore doesn't mean the rest of us can't make the effort to communicate better does it? It seems a bit of a shame if new people are made to feel like they are spoiling the forum. I vote we stop complaining that it has gone a bit stale and do something about it instead! Maybe everyone who feels it has gone downhill could start up some fun threads or tell us all about yoursefl so us 'newbies' can get to know you all ?

You're all coming back on the site now though to say how much better it used to be! ;-) Maybe if it did used to be much better previously stop by more often and post? Seriously as someone who does stop by here daily there has been very few threads that have evolved in spats/strops. On the whole it is a nice enough forum although quiet, but its not going to get better if people don't try and make the effort instead just say how it was a better place before. A forum is only what people make of it.

Used to come on here all the time. It got to the stage where I just couldn't read a thread without getting annoyed. I have made a few posts recently and do still visit quite often but it's changed. Met some lovely people on here, well I've never actually met them. We just keep In touch via social media now.

Well said!!!!!!!!!! I too use to be on here all the time, telling fellow nurses about how great the site is......do still tell my svns to check out the revision/college/exam stuff. But i hardly come on here only to have a quick look but rarely post. It just seems to be a constant moan it makes it VERY depressing!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think most forums go in peaks and troughs. I think it is quieter, but rarely blazes like it can do!

Again, I just pop in and out tho, but try and ensure I only reply to threads where I feel I can make a positive contribution.

I used to be addicted to the site but it isn't what it used to be so hardly log on anymore. I also keep in touch with people but not through here.

I ahve to agree too, there were a few threads just before Christmas that were quite unpleasant to read. There are always going to be times when we have differences of opinion but it can be said in a much nicer way or not at all.

Rather than abandoning the site, can't we all just make a conscious effort to take it back to what it was before? Try all we can to bring the fun and unity back into it :)
