The students have to have a knowledge of all three models (roper, logan and tierney, Orem and ability models), but in practice they can use whichever is most appropriate to your practice. The new bsava textbook of vet nursing has quite a lot of information in although I found it quite bombarding if your tryin to choose one. We use the rlt model in my practice but Personally I would recommend the ability model as it seems the most relevant. The Handbook of veterinary nursing by Hilary Orpet and perdi welsh has a great concise section on it's use! Good luck hope this is helpful.

Re: Care Plans

You and me both Paula. We have always had care plans - I like to call it 'The Good Patient Care Plan', it was just never fomalised in boxes! With regard to the NPL. I have no idea, but Ch 14 of the new VN tetbook (Jones type one) seems to have good examples (disclaimer: I say seems as I haven't actually read it yet!) Maybe your practice could buy it if they don't already have it?
