Not the easiest option, we have a narrow hallway. I could get one of the scratchers that you can hang up, I suppose.

[/quote]

we have this one as we only have a narrow hall and one of my cats had gone beyond the wallpaper and plaster and was down to the reinforcing corner bar and brick! ( anybody thinking they might like a bengal as a pet take note!) this one either folds and fits around a corner or can be placed flat on the wall. Normally I would say look for it on Amazon but until they do the decent thing and cough up tax on some of their profits then I will be shopping elsewhere and will be recommending the same to others - and besides that its cheaper on zooplus!

Works very well for us - I rub it over now and again with a bit of valerian (which to a lot of cats is like catnipx10) Admittedly the ball was off within the first 10mins but I do have a pretty hardcore cat. Has been up about a year now and is still bearing up well

You can get stuff called 'sticky paws' (it's essentially sticky back plastic!) you just put it wherever you don't want the cat to scratch and as they don't like the feeling of it, they soon learn to not scratch that area and you can eventually remove it!

My mum has used this with her cat with great success!

Re: Cat scratching

Ooh some cats don`t like walking on tinfoil either so you could try putting some around the bottom of the door

Re: Cat scratching

There`s a citrus type spray that you can get from pet shops to deter cats from flower beds etc that you could spray over the door area. Think it`s called `Get Off` but don`t quote me on that. They hate getting their paws stuck on stuff too so you could cover the bit she scratches with double sided sellotape...

I have long term sleep deprivation from a cat who scratches doors so i`ve tried lots of things!
