I know the DJs involved are supposedly receiving counselling, but I think the whole concept of prank phone calls as a form of radio "entertainment" should be banned!

Re: Sympathy for Duchess of Cambridge nurse

I agree. I really hope none of us are exposed to the media like this poor girl and others. David Kelly, Princess Diana, do we really need more people hounded by our pathetic media circus.

To cap it all, she wasnt even the nurse who gave out the information, she just answered the call and put it through.

Re: Sympathy for Duchess of Cambridge nurse

I dont like 'pranks' fullstop because a prank however innocent always results in somebody being belittled. Its not entertaining and it isnt funny. I have been following this and ok the DJ's maybe couldnt have imagined the harm they would be causing but they would have been able to imagine the publicity of this stunt and in all possibility what a 'successful' stunt could do for their careers. I have seen the excuse that they didnt think they would get through - but if they really thought this why did they even try? Calls to a hospital at 5.30am when a hospital is on night staff I am sorry but if that wasnt calculated to increase their chances of getting through.....

And I am sorry but the media handling of this in our country is no better - why was there such a race between the papers to not only name this poor woman but to get her picture splashed across their pages? Was there any real need to be filming the hearse that removed her body? and why are the people she worked with (I am talking other nurses here not higher ups) now being hounded by the press for information? I wish they would just leave the poor woman and her friends and family alone.

My thoughts are with the family of the nurse, and her colleagues. Who knows if this was wholly responsible? Who knows if this wasnt just the final straw.

The DJ's I am sorry but even if they couldnt have foreseen this I have no sympathy - lets hope they learn from this

Re: Sympathy for Duchess of Cambridge nurse

I agree, just awful. I suspect she couldn't take the shame and embarrassment - and public humiliation. I'm sure the DJs in question are devastated too, there are no winners here. And all because of a "joke". Before the nurse was found dead, they played a bit of the prank call on the radio - it wasn't even funny.
