We currently wear blue tunics with black trousers and either a cardigan or our practice fleece.
I feel the cardigan and fleece are both fairly impractical, both are difficult to get hair off, the fleeces

Re: Uniform jumper

I have a quilted one (years old and quilting now very flat) that I had when I was riding. I already get a Matalan one rather than a typical 'nurse' cardigan!

I do like this idea, but think I would end up with the same problem, baggy wrists after I've pushed them up and down my arms a few times...or do you not find that as bad? Might have to give it a go.

I agree the sweatshirts wouldn't look very smart, but I really can't imagine we look very smart wearing baggy hairy fleeces either!! Lol.

Thanks for the replies so far

Re: Uniform jumper
school cardigans from the uniform shop (they have loads of stores and online) tend to be a lot better than the alexander cardies for holding their shape and they are cheaper, another good one is the M+S school uniform ones. I have seen sweatshirts and will agree for front of house they arent a good look but in saying that they are better than the hoodies I have seen complete with logos - they make staff look like they are members of some street gang or asbo dodgers
Agreed! I bought a bottle green school cardy from a school shop because I couldn't find a black one in shops which wasn't really long and flimsy or baggy around the sleeves, its got sleeves more like a sweatshirt so they are good even if you roll them up, Only problem I had was finding one in my size as the green ones around here are usually used for primary schools etc

I wore a practice jumper in one of my previous jobs (it was the only extra layer we were allowed to wear) and I miss it lol. During winter it proved much better than a cardigan at keeping me warm. They are pretty easy to keep clean, hair doesnt stick to them as much, and any that does comes off easily with a quick lint roll, although we only wore them in kennels and prep, I would never wear one into theatre, only full scrubs. We wore bottle green jumpers to match the rest of the uniform, with the practice logo stitched on so we all looked like a team, however, I personally think theyre not as smart compared to a cardigan. This didnt matter to us much as we were a big hospital and we didnt have much contact with the public, we were out back the majority of the time, so they were practical and suited our role. Personally I like the comfort and practicality but I do think for smaller practices they may look a little bit too casual for front of house and during clinics etc, but could be as simple as only wearing them out back then taking them off before a clinic, which I've had to do before and didnt bother me.

Hope that helps a bit:)
