my old one was a very old morphy richards - it looked and sounded like it was about to self destruct every time I used it - made a nice loaf tho

I've got a Panasonic too and it's fab (SD-256). It's got a timer function and the pan size is pretty generous compared to the ones manufactured in the late 90's.

There's a model up, the 257, with s a seperate dispenser for putting in your sultanas etc so they get automatically emptied into the dough after it's proven as you would by hand.

I am going to put mine to the ultimate test this xmas and bung in some Stollen! Last year I made too big a batch and my arms were ruined with all the kneading! Was delicious though!

thanks - I am looking for something that I can leave on while I am at work and come home to a loaf. Looks like the village shop could be closing again so I am guessing its going to be getting a lot of use
