I only do behaviour stuff. Basically I train chickens and ask them to show me what food they prefer. 9 out of 10 cats prefer whiskas type stuff.

My last experiment I *tried* to teach them to associate different coloured runways with different diets. The idea was that they could tell me which diet they preferred - but most of them preferred 'left' or 'right' over diet according to my results.

LOL. No - not quite.

I carry out my work at the Roslin Institute (which is a research institute that does a lot of work on chicken genetics). I rent a chicken shed there which I fondly call *cough* "Louise's Chicken Cognition Lab" which might just indicate delusions of grandeur

Aw - so do I. Its a really pain but I am not allowed to have any contact with birds any more (except, obviously my birds at work) incase I breach biosecurity I don't even handle them when I locum except when I know that I will not be going to the place I carry my practical work at for a couple of weeks.

I have managed to upload it so it can be downloaded from my profile to view locally. Its a powerpoint presentation so if will probably only work if you have microsoft office on your computer.

You are welcome to comment Faye! I would like anybody who has time as sometimes I get so absorbed in what I am doing (i.e. the finer detail) that I forget to explain the obvious *needed* details. This is a regular criticism from my supervisors anyway so I try to get feedback from people uninvolved in my work now as this helps me massively.

Hi, that would be great. No need to be good at chickens - just need to be a member of the public with a critical eye.
