I've never heard this but I do know that to be a Veterinary Hospital under the RCVS Practice Standard's Scheme (PSS) you must employ at least one registered or listed nurse to be responsible for the nursing duties at the hospital. http://www.rcvs.org.uk/document-library/practice-standards-manual/

it's worth looking at the PSS http://www.rcvs.org.uk/practice-standards-scheme/ and there's a free webinar on there aswell about joining. Unfortunately there is no requirement for general practices joined to the PSS or even the core standards for a practice to employ an RVN. Others may have other info I'm not aware of but hope this helps start you off :) Good luck and hope you get to do your training soon :)
