On Saturday I completed a walk across Wales- 42 miles of ridiculously undulating Welsh hillside. It was torture!!! The last 10 miles were utter agony and on Sunday I could hardly walk and had a horrible migraine! Thank you to all of you who sponsored me - the bears in China and Vietnam in AAF's bear rescue centres will be very grateful. If you want to go to the website to have a look at some of them www.animalsasia.org or if anyone else is inspired to donate some money via my just giving page that would be great www.justgiving.com/judyandfoggy

Re: Moon Bears and Snowdon

Two down one to go! Foggy and I completed Snowdon yesterday (we were fortunate not to be with the group on Saturday when a woman in the group had to be air lifted to the hospital after she was taken ill (with pre-existing condition) at the top of the mountain - they managed to get her down via stretcher an dthe little mountain railway.) So we missed the hideously bad weather and just had an hour or so of rain and wind to put up with. Foggy loved it and was as enthusiastic at the end as he was at the beginning. It was a great day and probably good preparation for the final walk across Wales in 12 days (counting off the hours!!! it will soon be over). Thank you to all who have sponsored me

Re: Moon Bears and Snowdon

Well done hun! Thats absolutely amazing! I'm kind of blushing now - the thought of Snowdon was bad enough so 16 MILES is enough to make me feel dizzy!
ONE DOWN TWO TO GO!!!

I completed the first of my three sponsored walks today. I walked 16 miles up and down three very big hills in a time of 6 hours 24 minutes. (Not sure why I am telling you the time I took- I am never ever going to try and beat it!!!!) I only sat down twice- once to change my socks when I reached the summit of the largest hill (when I managed to put my clean foot in very runny sheep poo!) and when I had a cup of tea when I had descended the big hill. I am now completely knackered- much more tired than when I actually finished the walk this afternoon. So I have my feet up and the TENS machine (electrical pulse through my lowr back muscles) cranked up as far as it will go in an attempt to prevent me being disabled tomorrow

Re: Moon Bears and Snowdon

Just to wish you both good luck with the first walk.

Re: Moon Bears and Snowdon

Two nurses on the same sponsored walk!
I know you all have a lot of pressure on your purses- but my dog Foggy and I are after your sponsorship. We are doing a sponsored walk up Snowdon on 7th June in aid of Animals Asia. Animals Asia is a charity which does brilliant work in Asia rescuing Moon Bears from a life of hideous torture in bear farms. They also campaign against cat and dog eating and promote dogs and cats as friends and companions by their work with Dr Dog and Professor Paws in schools and hospitals. I spent 3 months last year doing voluntary work at their rescue centre in Chengdu - and I can vouch for the value for money that their work provides.

Please visit my sponsorship site at http://www.justgiving.com/judyandfoggy

I'm doing this climb also!! Haha! I shall see you there! Although you are doing a lot better than me cus my training has consisted og a 1.5mile walk to the shops to buy cream cakes!! Everyone sponsor Judy!! Its an extremly good cause!!

Re: Moon Bears and Snowdon

Have just sponsored you, good luck to you both!

Re: Moon Bears and Snowdon

Thank you to those who have sponsored me so far. I have had a sudden rush of blood to the head and decided to expand the challenge to see if that will encourage anyone else to sponsor me- you will get more miles for your money! I am now going to do two other sponsored walks as well as the Snowdon challenge. First walk is on the weekend of 23rd May (no time to practice!) and is 16 miles up and down three hills (one of which is an actual hill that Hugh Grant has walked on in case you are impressed), then two weeks later Snowdon, then two weeks after that I am going to attempt a 42 mile walk across Wales (and as you will know there is nowhere flat in Wales). So if you consider the fact that I have a sedentary job and I am not in my fist flush of youth- you will appreciate it is quite a challenge. I am also having treatment for a very painful back which gives me sciatica every time I walk at the moment- but I am hoping that will be cured soon. HOW ABOUT SPONSORING ME NOW????

http://www.justgiving.com/judyandfoggy

PS Foggy isn't allowed on the very long walk- but I am hoping he will be allowed on the 16 mile one.
